Frequently Asked Questions

What is coaching?

Coaching is quickly becoming one of the leading tools that successful people use to live extraordinary lives. Through weekly coaching sessions, my clients identify what is most important to them and align their thoughts, words, and actions accordingly. As your coach, I work with you to identify what you want personally and professionally, and support you in achieving a life that you really want and love. Having a life you love starts with gaining clarity on your values, enabling more meaningful choices and consistent action. Your commitment to your life through coaching offers a means for more balance, joy, intimacy, energy, financial abundance, focus, and action in every area of your life.

What is solutions-focused coaching?

As a solutions focused coach, I use a proven frame-work to support people in gaining clarity, focus and direction on what they want more of in life. The process is client-driven, based solely on the goals and outcomes for which you are aiming to achieve. I hold a focused space for you and ask purposeful questions of you that encourage / invite you to explore the connection of your goals to your deep rooted or core values. Solutions focused coaching is based on who we are becoming right now and who we are in the future we are living into. It is an exploration of possibilities, motivations, values, empowering beliefs, skills, and capabilities to develop ecological goals, action plans, and accountability.

How is coaching different from counseling or therapy?

Therapy and counseling go into depth about various issues, usually dealing with the past, and focuses on a problem that needs fixing. Coaching is more action-oriented and focuses primarily on the present and future. In solutions focused coaching there is no advice giving or telling the client, rather strategic and purposeful questions are asked of the client for the client to discover the solutions from within themselves. As your coach, I support you to determine your own "answers" that are the right fit for you through the work done in our coaching partnership.

How is coaching different from consulting?

Consulting generally results in giving the client answers. The consultant is an expert in their field or specializes in a certain area to who a person or organization goes to for consultation on a specific matter for which they need guidance. There is a combination of being client-driven based on need and the consultant being hired to help meet that need by giving advice and direction. In coach approach, it is an advice-free zone and the agenda is emergent as the coach supports the client in exploring their goal or outcome they want from the coaching session.

Are the sessions confidential?

The coach maintains the strictest levels of confidentiality with all client information. A clear agreement or contract would need to be in place before releasing information to another person, unless required by law. Furthermore, compliance with the International Coach Federation pledge of ethics in honored.

What is the nature of a coaching relationship?

The coach and client enter into a professional coaching relationship with a business agreement or contract that defines the responsibilities of each party. It is a respectful relationship based on trust and honesty. Our first task together is to find out exactly what you really want for yourself. Once you create objectives that are clearly in line with your personal values and professional vision, you are much more likely to naturally and consistently take actions to reach them.

Who works with a coach?

Entrepreneurs, business owners, professionals, and people in transition are some of the people who typically work with a coach. Regardless of their professional endeavor or place in life, coaching is proven to work when two factors are present: (1) The client is willing to learn, grow, and take action. (2) There is gap between where (s)he is now and where (s)he wants to be to get even more out of their lives.

What is the average time-frame of a coaching contract?

I recommend you commit to coaching for a minimum of three to six months. The benefits of coaching build over time. For entrepreneurs, the most popular package requested has been my Consistent Momentum Package with month 1 starting with a 1/2 day strategizing session and 1 hour follow up call, month 2 and 3 have 180 coaching minutes (3 hours) in each month to be scheduled however you want (45 minute sessions, 1 hour sessions, 1.5 hours, etc). Most people choose the coaching package of three sessions per month for 30 - 45 minutes each session. As we approach the end of the 3 months we determine if you want to continue and create a package that works for you.
